I have been in general construction all my life and have prided myself over the years at being able to provide practical help to people.Your website is amazing, it is without doubt the most comprehensive set of information and easily understood piece of work I have ever seen, well done. I have inquired separately for a commercial copy of your cdrom, you deserve to be paid for the efforts you have made. Kind regards Clive
We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoy your webpages. The techniques are excellently explained and are a mine of useful info. It must be a labour of love and we appreciate your effort.

It's now the weekend and I'm accepting that I really really now really DO have to attempt the patio in the back garden!
I am now enthused and most certainly amused at the financial prospect and easy decision that all I actually need is cheap bleach & elbow grease! Your wit and wisdom has tickled me pink!! Looking forward to gunning it with the broom later today, once I've had a hearty breakfast of course!

While I regard myself as a competent builder with some 30 years experience I'm always reassured that I can visit your site to make sure my work practices for a particular paving/decking job are correct. Thank you for providing a simply excellent resource. Regards Alex (Storch)

What an absolutely stunning site you have. Loads and loads of detailed and useful, often funny, information on just about everything construction related. The 'icing on the cake' is that it is all for free - almost unbelievable. Well done and thank you very much. Best regards - Eric.

As all the other messages have said this is a really useful and funny site. I was particularly impressed by the use of the word 'jollop' which I haven't heard since I lost my own Dad several years ago. That bought back some lovely memories. Keep up the good work and 'don't let the eejits get you down'!!!

Thanks for the website I have viewed it many times. The suppliers, manufacturers and lifestyle TV shows in Australia give basic info on how to lay pavers and it is useless. None of them reccomend bedding in the edge course first as you do. Surely the methods should be the same on both sides of the world. I feel a lot more comfortable doing it your way. Brian

What an experience! I only fell over this site when researching how to choose and lay (and design) a small Indian sandstone seating area. What a fount of knowledge and experience! I am definitely going to follow all the advice, hints and tips for my little 4M2 patch, but contact the site further about my worn-out 1960's old slab patio. What a difference. Thank you Tony and Crew.

This is a fantastic website which has helped me successfully lay 70 sq metres of the infamous black limestone. I knew from the outset that it is not black and is really grey with the help of Tony's website. It looks lovely! The advice regarding hardcore and cement bedding layers was invaluable. Pointing the flags proved impossible with a pointing gun - Tony is right in what he implies, so don't bother trying to use one! A much better finish was achieved using a "just wet" mix of stained mortar. I cannot praise this website and it's dry humoured common sense approach enough. Thank you.

I have been using this site for DIY advice and for helping me negotiate with contractors (although they usually don't like being asked to do it the way you advise!)for years. It is a truly excellent site. I am sorry to hear of the death of Mr McCormack, who was obviously a fine man.

Bought the book a few years ago and used it to successfully complete an ambitious block paved patio. As a technical publication this book is comprehensive and detailed. In short excellent!

Very good website but very rude man he actually put the phone down when I was asking discussing a land drainage problem I have !!!!!' ...err, you were asking for a price for land drainage installation despite it clearly stating on the contact page that we are not contractors, we do not price any construction work, and that we do not welcome calls on Mondays. You're an eejit! I can be much ruder if you wish?
