Brilliant article . Well written. I am off to try to clean a chimney stack based on this advise
Fantastic website! I laid some decorative roll-top lawn edging today, for the first time ever, and the information on this website gave me the confidence to do it, knowing and understanding every step of the way. This site contains a perfect mix of "how" as well as "why", and that educates beautifully, as well as being written in a great style that just makes you want to carry on reading the whole website. -- JJ

Outstanding information, very helpful indeed. Clear and concise advice for novices like me. I like the websites' non commercial ethos and the dedication of the author. I have just donated £5 to help with website costs. Excellent website and well done! Abbas

I needed some advice on cleaning and caring for some pretty scabby flag stones around my property. Its 4.20 in the morning on another groaner of a night shift stuck in the middle of nowhere. Finally someone with knowledge and a sense of humour. I can’t wait to point out the pointlessness of a timber deck painted BLUE! Hallelujah! Do I wish I had found this site a long time ago? Cheers. I can only endorse the previous messages. Fantastic site - loads of information and ideas, very well presented. An amazing achievement - do you ever get time to lay any blocks ? I only wish you were nearer to me than I could use your skills. Many thanks and good wishes.

What a great website. I could spend hours reading all the interesting stuff on here and I was only browsing to find out how to clean my blockpaving properly! Wonderful, witty writing too...no wonder you published a book.
A brilliant site with excellent informative and easy to access pages. I will be laying just five 60x90 slabs but with the knowledge that they should stay put on the correct bed.

I have been on this site on a number of occassions and find the information and detail impressive and to the point. I have been in the construction industry for over 40 years and am a stickler for detail and precise technical information. This meets all of that and more. Impressive does'nt do it credit! It goes to show that there are still professionals and gentlemen in the trades. Best of luck in the future to you and your family.

Just completed a block paved patio with my son at his house in East Bridgford, Notts. We had a rough idea of how to proceed but we found your website invaluable for filling in all of the crucial details needed to make it a success. Will recommend it highly to others - thanks very much.

Brilliant site! All you need to know, presented in a format anyone can understand. Saved me from making a pratt of myself when building my own patio. The last time I built something myself was with wooden blocks when I was a nipper! Through his site I have done a better job than I imagined I could. Thanks a million!
