Thank your for this site. It's so helpful - restores
my faith in the internet and humanity. I have built
patios before, but have quite a big project to
undertake and this has helped with everything from
laying out to the right mix.

This site is BY FAR the most informative and at the same time funniest in its specific field of interest.
Congrats and keep it up!

In response to a question Tom Dawson had about using the polymeric
sand...we did, on top of gravel and sand, but what seems to have
happened, is that in some areas the polymeric sand wasn't thick
enough and will "bubble" up as water flows under it...it set hard, but
peels off. Having not much experience with it, I am not sure if we just
didn't lay a thick enough layer, or if we get too much moisture there,
but this summer we are digging it all out and trying to come up with
another alternative, at this point, I don't care if it's grass,
everything else has just as many drawbacks, either with having to
constantly sweep it, or letting weeds into it...at least the grass is green,
I am just concerned that it will grow completely over them in
time...aahhhh the joys.
We also live in Alberta and have the problem of frost heaving, and now
some are sitting higher than others...will keep my eye on the site to
see what other choices we have.
Great advice here, thanks

Hi Tony,
I had to look up ‘how to’ info on the internet to help this layman do some DIY – laying a small patio, a base for the new shed etc. and whenever I’ve gone to Google to do a search I’ve always ended up on your site, and it’s the one website I come back to time and time again for the info I need.
On this occasion I was using Google to look up what ‘Type 1’ was and again I landed on your site, but this time I took more time to read the 'about us' section.
I’ve just read about your dad passing away a few years ago and I felt compelled to leave a message as what you wrote reminded me of my own father, which put a smile on my face as it brought back happy memories. My dad passed away 4 years ago and it was cancer that got him too.
Congrats on a great informative website and very much hope you’re business continues to be successful.
All the best
Bill.

The main problem with DIY is remembering how you did it last time, what mixes to use and so on. This site is fantastic at giving a head start and the tips and advice found along the way are absolutely invaluable.

Well what I wan't to say about how good this site is will take forever.
Thank you very much for sooo much information and tips.
We have done our block pave drive ourselves with your info and every one who goes past, well nearly everyone, says how good it is.
I see other drives done by contractors and they aint a patch on what we have been able to achieve with your help.
Thanks again,
John and Kath Howells.

Can't tell you how many times I come back to these pages since finding it about 5 years ago.
This is what the Internet should be all about, true knowledge sharing. So many gardens and driveways will be shaped & constructed all the better thanks to your site. No amount of manufacturers instructions and DIY manuals will give you what you can get right here.
