Hi, excellent site. Following your advice we've just replaced individual broken block paving tiles after concluding that our paving company was never going to return as promised! Really useful help, we'll be returning for more advice for other projects.
Many thanks

Found your site and -enough confidence- to develope hardstanding for car at front of property using tumble blocks. Result looked great and I think helped us to sell our house. Now, after settling in our new home I have created patio area. But first came back to check advice on your terrific website. Thanks once again

Tony - Thank you so much for such an excellent site, it is an absolute gold mine of information and freely given too which is so rare today when knowledge usually comes at a price. The detailed information is conveyed clearly and in logical sequences with so much interesting back ground information thrown in too. When I came to research the subject prior to starting my large DIY project I never for one minute imagined that I would find a book on groundwork such compelling reading and so hard to put down and your website is just as addictive.
Thanks to your advice and guidance I feel confident in tackling the work myself and am very much looking forward to making a good start over the extended Easter / Royal wedding break. Even the weather forecast is in my favour so I face the project with eager anticipation!

Thank your for your informative, and somewhat humorous,
material on lichens on Yorkstone. I will try one (or
two, or three - then probably give up!) but won't lose
any sleep if unsuccessful!

hi ive been dipping into your site for a year or so getting ready to install around a 100 mtrs of stone or slate paving.I am amazed at the ammount of technical help you have included in your site, and a deffinate case of big fish small pond, you probabley started paving straight from school ? should have stayed a bit longer, could have been running the country now ! also very witty, thanks.

Your site has very quickly become a bible to me! It has
confirmed a lot when my mind hit a blank but I have also
learnt so many new skills in areas outside my field
through the articles on this site.
Thanks for the brilliant work!

Thanks so much for this amazingly detailed site. I have layed paving in the past (diy) but never sure about the finer details. You cover everything in a easy to navigate site, its so brilliant I read pages which where not related to my project. Plus the calculators are so easy. Thanks again Dave

I came across this site whilst researching resin paths, can't believe how generous Tony is with his knowledge and expertise. As a non-DIY female, I don't need the technical information, but I can't stop reading - it's so well written, informative and the site so user-friendly. Have recommended this to hubby and others. Excellent job, Tony!

The finding of this site has been timed perfectly. Your
efforts everyday to maintain this site so DIYers like
me can actually plan & execute a fix to a problem (in
my case, a concrete patio sloping to my house and
adding water to the basement). Going to cut in a trench
type drain like you show on your drainage pages,
between house and patio. Thank you! Blessings to you
and yours.
