An excellent site, very well written in simple terms that is easy to understand. It certainly helped me greatly in my problem with laying/ grouting paving stones. Many thanks

Hi my name is charlie, I have been in teaching for nine years, the last four at chelmsford college where me and my new brickwork team have draged the college into the new mellinium. With all the modern forms of teaching where students are expected to do their own reasearch this web-site has came in very useful, I advise my students to use it for a great deal of their self study. All the best for the future. And if there is anyone out there who can give me some drawings for practical projects in the work shop, and thats any level I would be grateful.

Just stumbled across this site when trying to covince my husband that we were capable of laying our own small (5-7m sq) patio. The site is very helpful thanks for giving us the confidence & knowledge to have a go! I'll let you know if we're successful!

Hi, i've got a huge patio to lay in natural limestone. I'm keen to get it absolutely right. Finding this site has helped me not only chose the right way to lay the slabs, but also reminded me of why we do things the way we do. Thank you.
Excellent website, well resourced and referenced for anyone who wants to lay flagstones. I will be recommending this site in future for customers to use.

The website is most excellent. I would wish to direct students to use it for reference.
Hi there, Ive been using your site to plan my driveway/Garden for over a year. Quite simply the most comprehensive guide to doing anything to do with paving. I raved on so much about it, I got bought your book for Christmas, which is like my Bible at the moment. Great Diagrams and Pictures, and somehow installs a confidence in amatuers like me to give it a go myself. I will recommend your book and Site to anyone I know thinking of starting a paving project. Im currently trying to design an edge boundary system that doesnt encroach on neighbours land, for paving upto the boundary without working on the neighbours land. Ill be sending my designs to you for approval first!!!

Fantastic Site! I 'stumbled upon it' at random via Google but I feel like taking my holidays here. Ive done some modest sized landscaping jobs locally and there are always times when I need to consult with a Higher Authority on construction technique/materials. May I thank you in advance for becoming that 'person'. This is a site that enables you to want to work harder, be more creative and enjoy achieving a BETTER RESULT.

What an absolutely brilliant site. I am extending an existing patio and has helped me greatly as I was able to prepare quite a detailed specification and also check some estimates. I was a novice at the start but have held my own well I think in discussions with the contractors and the building suppliers. Top top marks to whoever did the drafting - written well, concise and in good humour. Well done.

Once again I've returned to this site for advice. The gravel path with 'kerfed' timber edges still looks a treat, the paved slab base for my large shed went down a treat and now to tackle the grouting of the riven slabs using the semi-dry method! It's all in the preparation and detail and this site has it all - thanks

Wonderful information for a starter in this building construction trade. Do you have anything in detail form, from ground to completion of a house, which will improve my fundamentals in building construction?
