Excellent site for the home owner and contractors alike. For the home owner: To have well written layman information on how contractors should be doing the job in hand. And how to maintain it after installation. For the contractor: As a check list of how the work should be carried out.

Love this site for its professional presentation of really useful information for the non-builders like myself. I was able to verify various things I was told by the builder and also find useful information for the builder. Fabulous, you have now been added to my Favourite shortlist

Wonderful resource, thank you very much. Sites like this from informed and professional people are what I remember in the early days of the internet. So sad this is not the norm anymore! I shall be buying your book very soon

Sometimes the internet can be a double edged sword - so much information that often you end up confused about the right methods/materials/tools to use for a particular job. This site is the exception to the rule - brilliantly written, easy to navigate and not trying to be anything other than a source of information for DIY and trade alike.
I stumbled on your site by accident.I was advised to use bleach on my patio (also 'hands and knees' with scrubbing brush)-it worked.I note bleach is advised by yourself! Your site, and advice, are not only excellent, but written in a truly entertaining style-have added to my list of contacts. Thank you, well done.

I have referred to your wonderful website on several occasions and each time I visit it I am more and more impressed by the extensive content and the way it is so generously presented. You obviously love your profession and quite happy to openly share your wealth of knowledge to anyone who discovers you. If you haven't already received an award for this website then its about ... time. You should get an OBE for services rendered to the paving community. On behalf of all DIYers and contractors I thank and salute you.
Warmest regards to you and your family.
Trevor Griffiths.

Bloomin' marvellous! Well written, clear and impartial information - I wish there was a site like this for all the other trades and areas of construction. It wouldn't half save a lot of time and expense

This website is awesome. I'd never been near mortar before, I thought it had evil powers and I was terrified of it. The data in these pages is incredibly informative at every level; it looks definitive. I've gained confidence in piddling about with some very satisfying projects at home which have really impressed the wife (but not that much, it's still only bricks and slabs getting laid). Thanks very much indeed.
