Very impressed with the aggregates page - very educational, especially the sand bit. Would have loved to see an extra note on there about sandpits for kids though :)

Back again to this site after 5 years. Used it a lot when I had to get a patio laid and then a driveway. Now I am interested in cleaning as the rainy winter in the UK has made my patio flags dark. Thanks - I still love the text and pictures - its pleasure to do research on this site

I have found so much good, clear information as I am preparing to lay a walkway and two patio areas around our home this spring/summer. I am using 4"x8" pavers. Thank you for teaching me so much. The work will go easier and look much better because of what I am learning on your site.

I started using this website in college and from there I have been able to do so much more with suppliers and the use of the calculator helped me out significantly. I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the website
Working within the natural stone industry I find this website a very good refrence for end users wanting to 'do it themselves', but it is also a very good source for professional tradesmen. We do get a lot of queries about our products, from laying them to general maintenance, and a lot of the time we reference or direct the people with quires to this website due to its wealth of knowledge. Kind Regards Kyle Fisher (Digby Stone - Marketing Manager)

Great article on the curse of the black limestone. When buying these flags I was warned about the colour fade but nothing could have prepared me for the final result! It did not get off to a great start, laying the patio with my 70yo father, who to be fair did a great job, other than treating them as 'normal' flags, getting extra cerement on them saying it will clean off don't worry son with flag cleaner!! Did initially restore the colour with a oil based product i found on a forum. This just made the patio glossy and sticky! I cleaned this off. Now I have a very grey wreaked flags. Still look ok, just like an aged patio.. not the style I was wanting at first! Going to give the colour restorer products you tested, hopefully my flags not too damaged? I just like to thank you for the time and effort you have put into this site, it is a really good read... It is clear you are very passionate about construction and reading your story it is a shame this was cut short.
Purely by chance I came across your site, but see your in the Warrington area, so if I ever see you about town a pint or two will be yours!

This web site IS one of the most informative I have been on. No stupid pop ups saying "buy me, buy me" with useful links to manufacturer web sites. Thanks. And, I've bought your book!! Sorry, from Amazon. Regards Martin (trade) 07774807766
A completely awesome site. So glad I found you! Will be sending you a plan to work out paving for me over the weekend. You've saved me a half a dozen disastrous mistakes already!

I've retired now but have used your site for many years if I want to know about ground works. It is well put together and easy to use. If I were building a web site this is the model I would choose. Great job and thanks for helping me out over the years. Chris.

The simple and easy access throughout your website to the endless, useful information on paving, presented in a well written and light hearted style make your website one of the most generous and valuable I have come across. Thank you!
Your site is fantastic! Even as someone in the industry who prides himself on knowledge of good practice, I have regularly consulted your site over the years. If only all tradesmen (and Architects!) showed such commitment to their craft. Thank you for your dedication, Johnny
