Probably one of the best websites on the internet by a man who takes time to give great advice to people like me, just an average DIY'er. It's obvoius that Tony knows his trade inside out and is totally unselfish by sharing his wealth of trade secrets with ordinary folk like me. I came across this site by accident as I was trying to get advice on laying 10 slabs properly. Thanks to the exellent links I was able to navigate to the advice I needed quickly and easily. I never knew there was so much to know about this subject! I shall read through it all. Thanks a million mate and good luck to you and yours.
Tony, this is a fantastic resource for everyone involved in this business as well as novices taking on this sort of work themselves. I was delighted to come across this website and will recommend it to many others. I read your story and its incredible the work you've put into putting all this together. Fair play and best of luck

Excellent web site, the most helpful and informative to a novice who decided to attempt to lay a patio after being let down by local contractors. The patio is down, the rain running the right way and I could not have done it without the help of this site.

Thank you for an amazingly good web page where you can find almost anything you are seeking re paving. I studied civil engineering with limited access to site after graduation. Your web page is like a mentor i can consult all the time re practical issues and British terminology which gives me hard times most of the time. So, thank you and well done for the nice work here.

Superb site. Excellent resource for me as a DIYer, far more thorough and exhaustive than the big DIY chains guides. 10/10!

I intend soon as a DIY project to lay about 11sq M of paving in my garden. Your most excellent site has given me all the information and the confidence I need to do the job. I will hire a vibrating plate to consolidate the sub base and plonk a 10:1 dry mix on top of that. For such a relatively small job what is the best way combine the sand-cement mixture - is it worth hiring a mixer or should I encourage the wife to do it instead? Congratulations on a smashing and very helpful site.
Great. No dead wood on this site. Learnt more here than I did at College.

Excellent site! I am about to seal my recently laid paving and have certainly learnt a lot from this site. Fantastic guidance, explanations and recommendations, if only all websites were like this. I am a woman with little/no knowledge of paving, sealers etc and have been able to decide on what I want/need without the help of anyone else. Brilliant and well done!

Wow.... thanks for a verry informative web site, I have been looking for information on steps for ages, and only now found you!!!.... you have given me the confidence to go out and do my step, The only info I did not find was how deep sjhould the concret footing be, if starting the base of the step, I am going to make a 100 mm footing, although it is probably more than is necessary, as I am expanding step, and building over exixting rather steep and narrow steps, Thanks again for your help
