Found your site whilst looking for a way of dealing with what I now know is lichen on my Indian slate paving. I haven't had a chance to try the suggested remedies yet but had to write to tell you how much I enjoyed the tone of your advice. I laughed at your jokes too! Brilliant!
AMAZING SITE, Really does clear up all the grey areas

To remove chewing gum try a small amount of fairy liquid and enough salt on the top to soak up the fairy liquid. Leave for 5 minutes, gently rub it into the chewing gum and the whole lot should scrape off. No idea why it works but it does. It's good for carpets as well.

Not only a technically informative and super site, but one without spelling errors, typos or spurious apostrophes! Many (most) professional website designers should visit your site to see how it should be done. Thanks!

Very impressed with the website - its pitched exactly right for me (home DIY, but not a builder), simple & clear, easy to navigate, occasional tongue-in-cheek, covers everything I wanted to know (and a bit more). I have digested virtually every page. Thanks for taking the trouble to make all it available.
We suggest this site to any end user that is looking for unbiased information. This site provides comprehensive information on all aspects of paving and is available in a manner that most individuals can understand. Excellent work, keep it up.

Thank you so much for taking the time to carry out the curse of black limestone experiment. We couldnt afford to pay a professional to lay our own patio of black Kadapha 3 years ago, we never sealed it because I always thought sand cement from the grouting was stuck to the surface. I now in hindsight know that a) the gap between slabs should of been greater to allow for the uneven edges, b) we should of sealed first before grouting. After reading some other forums I was beginning to think that all was lost and that I'd be throwing good money after bad in trying to restore the patio. You've now given me hope that I can hopefully get the patio looking how I envisaged it in the first place. I will be scraping out the moss weeds from the grouting then applying two coats before re-grouting. Was thinking that as a diyer and to avoid the mess with sand and cement from last time I might use the Romex easy.
