Great site.
I'm thinking of using PIC, but wasn't too sure how to go about it. This web site helped a great deal.
Now I must find a Contractor in South wales worth their salt.
Thanks Again
Martin.

I am looking to repair a concrete driveway. The origianl builder of my girlfriends house did a VERY POOR JOB puting in the driveway AND planning for (actually NOT planning for) drainage.
First....there is a crack down the middle half of the long driveway (lenthwise crack). I am going to cut out (via concrete saw) a swath of about 44" - 48" down the middle of the driveway and replace it with cobblestones or pavers. I hope I wont have to do much with any subase on this except for puting down some sand.
Secondly....the drainage from the garden area directly in front of the house and to one corner of the house is MISERABLE (there is no drainage). I want to cut out two swaths of cement ACROSS the driveway (each about 18" - 24" wide.....I dont know how wide I need or want it to be) and trench out an area that is deep enough so that I can lay down some appropriate drainage pipe, put the appropriate subase and sand above it...and replace the top with matching cobblestones or pavers as the replacement area that I am repairing in the other section of the driveway I am repairing (the lengthwise crack).
I plan on renting a trencher in order to dig out a deep enough area in order to lay the pipe and give me room above it for rock, subase, and the cobblestone or pavers on top. Once the trench is out on "the other side of the driveway" (the side furthest from the house)....the land falls off some so drainage wont be a problem.
If anyone has ANY thoughts or ideas for me....I am all ears.
I will be taking a look at your site again for help.
Thanks.....Chris Smith

A very useful and informative site. My BTEC National Certificate result would be significantly lower had I not found it. Clearly providing a superb source of information! Thanks

Here's a little trick I discovered: When making a circle of paving block or brick less than 2 meters in radius, use half-blocks for the border - easy to cut, looks great, even when you use full blocks as the main border.
