I am doing some work of potential applications for shell in permeable blocks and came across the site via Google. One of my best finds in recent months - very enjoyable and informative reading. Well done

This has got to be one of the most generously informative, informal, friendly and encouraging sites on the Web. All I wanted was to know how to halve a concrete flagstone, andfound this site, but ended up reading up on all sorts, and now I'm inspired to do more, dammit... Thanks a bunch. :-)

Thanks Tony for the information on mixing sand & cement. I found the site 100% explanatory for someone like me who can do it if told in a clear concise manor...of which you have done with word and diagrams...thank you so much my shed now has no holes under the paving as I have mixed and applied the mixture as per your site. thanks Tony LeeAnn

Thanks to the detailed advice on your fantastic site I started by dabbling in mortar mixes, then built walls, laid drains, laid a stone patio, built steps, laid paths, built a 25ft bridge, and along the way became confident enough to buy a cement mixer, and hire a 7 ton excavator. Now my wife wants me to build a new house! Your website has been invaluable. Thank you for sharing your experience. Keep it coming. Stephen (aged 56)

Your page on land drainage has an image and paragraph that says the holes on the pipe should be up for a catch drain and down for a dispersal drain. I've always been taught to install with the holes down and told the thought that gravity will drop the water into the pipe from the top ignores the fact that most will miss the holes. Using your design the pipe will fill once the pipe is submerged and the top holes are under water all around with the alternate the pipe will naturally start filling and expelling water sooner. Also, the action of the water will allow the silt to fall out of the holes making it self cleaning. Thanks for the page! Regards, Tim

Not only has this been the best site for a novice project manager on a self-build, such as myself - it is also wonderfully written. So rare with even the most academic of subjects, who would think that paving could offer such perfect prose! Well done to those responsible. Keep it up!

thank you for all the information. I found the site most informative. All the other sites I looked at that were state side wanted to sell thier products first. You were all about information first. For that I thank you. You and your company are on my favorites for good, and that is hard to do. Hsve a blessed day to all.
Great site tony, helps me enormously, going to set some of the lads onto a couple of the courses, agree that our "trade" is in need of an image change and tightening up of standards, keep up the good work mate, cheers

An excellent site, very informative and useful. However, it would be useful if some typical material costs could be given so that I can check quotes which seem very variable and uninformative. Your site provided me with all the background to check quality of work but soem help on costs next time would be appreciated. Keep up the good work.

I've just started to lay a 'small' area of block paving (a little over 6 square metres) and needed some tips, especially as one edge is curved. I found this site on a Google search and was not disappointed. The information covered everything I wanted to know using clear language. I'll be back next year to check out a few things when I take on the challenge of a large patio area and maybe the front drive!
