I can't believe how useful this website is.
You should get a book publisher to look at it with a
view to publishing the definitive guide to paving.
I'm just embarking on a large (100m2) patio project and
the advice on this site is absolutely invaluable.
Thank you for the time and effort in sharing your
knowledge.

I have been coming back to this site for years. I find it incredibly useful and exemplary in the way it puts forward practical experience as a learning tool.
It is very generous of you to put such a wealth of information here. AN example to follow!

Really loved the website. I am a lecturer who teaches
Transportation Engineering and Found REAL USEFUL
information and explanatory notes. One thing I wish I
could have found on this website, was a videos which
documents and explains road construction from beginning
to the handing over, with all construction steps
explained (though it may be out of scope for this
website but would love to have such videos in your
video section).

Splendid site. Well Done. Chatty and informal writing like this usually includes rubbish which has no real value to the reader and is full of technical inaccuracies. Not so with your excellent site. All is clear and so much easier to read than your average formal technical advice which is often so pompous and authoritative that the reader just gives up. Amusing, readable and above all.... useful. Thank you.

What a brilliant site. Thank you so much, you've settled so many questions and shown me why my re-pointing that took me several weeks last year has failed. I wish I'd found your site last year! At least when I re-point this year I can be confident it won't crack and turn to powder!
Many, many thanks
Kevin

The value of the web - found this site a couple of years ago and have referred to it often since then. I had a collapsing patio and fence in my newly-acquired house and couldn't believe that 'tradesmen' could build such a mess.
As a professional engineer, it appalls me that in the UK we are so ready to accept low standards in trades and professions.
Mr McCormack's efforts are to be commended in showing that actually there are a lot of people out there who know and care about these things.
Oh, and I bought the book - as it says on the tin, the book and the web site are (very) complementary. I recommend it if you want to make the most of his expertise.
Equally so, the website contains more than most of us 'amateurs' could take on board and for free!
Like freeware and wikipedia in the software and online worlds - amazing what people can achieve when we trust each other.

Loved the site. Simply the best reference I've seen, and full of no-nonsense advice to boot. Going to re-do my path and patio this spring and when I've done I'm going to make a donation. Great work.

Quite incredible that people like you share their knowledge in such a trustworthy and structured way, for free. This kind of site has opened up construction to women in a way that was never possible befor; women trying to have a go were disdained, and men didn't deign to pass on any tips, because "women shouldn't be doing this". Thank goodness for the internet. Cheers and thanks so much!

I dug the hole through concrete and rubble to find an
almost exact pipe layout as shown on your site. My
inspection unit with rocker pipes presented a puzzle.
Having longer rocker pipes to allow the coupler to
'float' till fixed solved my puzzle. Thanks - I was
struggling till I came across your life line. Now back
to my latest book, 'An Alignment of Coincidences'.
