put in for planning on some land
after 3 resubmissions it has been granted on 1 condition
we have to *contribute* 10 grand per house to go towards local schools
I asked what if people with no kids buy them?
what a liberty
do the somalis, poles, bengalis etc etc with 12 kids contribute 10 grand when they turn up?
the boggle minds
no wonder the building game is on its knees

And they want to encourage housebuilding?? Ridiculous situation for the trade but all developers are 'subjected' to this Section 106 agreement.

Its getting silly now. Its plain bribery and makes you wonder what goes on at a higher level.

I flew to Glasgow at the weekend. Tickets for me, mrs and baby were £340. Of that £340, £220 was made up of tax. You cant do anything without getting financially stung

It's a liberty, the government are always banging on about house shortages. Section 106 is an absolute farce, allegedly contributing to roads, schools ect... what's the council tax for?

I have heard of developers that steer clear from new builds, the irony is they develop existing properties, doubling the size= more residents/cars ect.. and no contributions to local amenities

If they were to stay in the property; for example 2-4 years, the council tax remains the same ,no capital gains tax when selling ect... What a farce!!

it doesnt. My local steering group are using section 106 money for verge hardening so council tennants can park their cars!

The governments only solution to date to kick start the building industry and to get Joe public to part with thier hard earned is the changes to permitted development that they are trying to push through.

As most of you guys are aware they have proposed doubling the allocation/size of the ground floor extension. My thoughts as follows;

1.Increased building costs

2. Over development for most properties i.e. will not increase resale value (many people are savy these days). What would you do the with the 3-4 x? additional sq m any way?

3. Really gonna pee off the neighbours, increase to max 6m for an attached property and 8m for a detached. Imaginge living in a terraced house and your neighbour builds a 6m long extension and 3m high. Now imagine living in between 2 houses with the maximum built!

Any one else have any thoughts on this proposed change?

I have a thought on it dave, 6m would be great as an extension. Had plans in the pipeline for a year and im holding toght to see what happens regards permitted development. If i could go 6m it will happen here
