hi, new extension buildt and we want to connect to the existing rain water drain that takes the water away from our property.

planning to use a rodable gulley to take the water from the downpipe. then use a short run of pipe (approx 1metre) to connect into the existing rw drain.

Would you also use a p trap or similar between the gulley and the drain to catch any silt.

the gulley is sold by wickes and catches silt / leaves in the bottom.

Only need to use a P trap if the intended m/h connection is part of a combined foul/stormwater system. If it is just a stormwater m/hole then no trap is required.

hi, we arent connecting to a manhole just striaght onto the pipe.

we have extended onto the side of the house, where there was a parking space, that had 3 grids / inlet hoppers, so we are using the pipes they were connected to.

Aslong as it is a stormwater pipe, then my initial statement still stands.

a trap is recommended even for rainwater now dave

those pesky leaves and other detritus go down the pipe and block them up otherwise

Oh yeah, I would still use a roddable bottle gulley, but no P trap req'd.
