getting itchy feet so ive been on the phone trying to get a few sites for subbie work . nothing going on up here one large house builder has put all site staff on ten day notice. two groundwork firms have gone bust. all the others have only a few months work because house builders are putting sites on vertuale stop. and my mate a paving contractor has just been stung for 27k . so im keeping my head down and leafletting like crazy hope domestic is better. Hows thing were you are?
One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important.

I Hope & pray it doesnt go tits up.

The bank of a reasonably big developer in Bournemouth has just got jumpy about the amount of land it has borrowed on, it owned £13 mil of land/buildings, some with narrow margins, the process of selling some of them off has begun!
My mate usually has at least three sites running. He is a couple of weeks in to a site that is his first site in a couple of months, he won't touch a site unless it easy and or has a good margin.
However, there is still alot of building work going on and alot of applications going in locally.
I know I am spending less and worrying more, since the re-mortgage in January.

Hello guys
Things are looking bleak in the house building market!
I have done my yearly leaflet drop to 1,800 new homes and most of the sites have homes completed and unsold from upto 10-40 empty homes ...so i think this year will be the year the prices fall...lets face it ..it had to happen...however for customers for garden makovers i an overrun with quotes so i hope to have a busy year ! steve

Those are the reasons i went back to working for a large construction company. Rates good, bonus OK and i get travel money of £25 a day, or subsistence allowance. also if i got laid of i would get redundancy. at the moment I've been transferred local so £19. 60 a week on the choo choo, 25 Min's to get there ( luxury ). and can still do the odd foreigner at weekends.
