Hey all, been a while since I have been on but there is a new question for you experienced heads.
Got 450m2 of crazy paving to quote and was wondering how any of you go about it. Do you try and work out what you can do in a day and just do day rate or does anyone have a m2 rate they use.
I have laid crazy paving many times but all while working for other people. The stone is 20-30mm Endicott and will be laid individually on a mortar bed on a concrete sub-base.
Cheers
Dan

so if the slab is poured then you are just laying the crazy stuff straight onto a bedding material on the slab?
for normal flags or slabs I would charge around £100 per metre supply and fix
or £25 per metre lay only
with crazy paving the pointing takes all the time if its done right
I.E birds beak or flush
of course if you slurry it and clean after it would be a lot quicker
but anyway labour only £40 per metre (including pointing)
hope this helps

Yeah bed them individually on wet morter, make up a thick paste of water, bondcrete and cement to paint on the back of the stone. Thats the way I got taught anyway.
That helps heaps mate cheers, it's almost double the labour cost. I just slurry the joints, sponge them off then wash it. What's birdsbeak , a v in the joint?

in the UK all *proper* crazy paving is pointed with birdbeak
it takes ages to do a metre
the alternative is work out how long you think it will take you ,times that by your daily rate then add 15-25% profit
we generally aim for 20% gross profit which after running costs ends up around 12.5-15 %
but it may work different in oz
wherabouts are you?
cheers LLL
