I've just got back from a few days in the Emerald Isle. Driving is like it was here in the 1950s - only problem is people don't expect to meet other vehicles on narrow roads, and there's a marked reluctance to set off when traffic lights turn green.
Food was wonderful, though not cheap, and of course there was Guinness!
The people were really friendly, and it only rained for two days. One of them was when we were driving over the Wickloe mountains, so all the waterfalls were in full spate. The only problem was that it was too wet to take photos.
We stayed one day at the Univerity of Dublin. It's a good place to take picture of how not to do block paving!
I can see why tony likes ireland

Once you get out of Dublin, driving is a real pleasure. Mrs Taz's bother moved over to Co Cavan earlier in the summer and when we went across to see him a couple of weeks back, he was in a state of shock regarding the roads. After having 12 years of driving in Holland, he was struggling to come to terms with roads where there is a greater chance of running onto a herd of sheep than meeting another vehicle.
Did you go to Glendalough while in Wicklow? I love the road from there, through the Wicklow Gap to Ballymore Eustace definitely one of the best drives in Europe.
