From Natalie in Ukraine who can't post from her own computer....
Ok. Here it is. I leave it to you to decide if it warrants or not, as well as to delete any portion that you don't like. Thanks a lot for your fast reaction.

This is the unfinished small project that we “inherited
Soil - sandy.
Surface - horizontal.
Climate - rainy.
The length of the patio is 6 m
Stones used - Abbeystones, 20x20x6, 20x30x6, 30x40x6 cm
We’d like to finish it in a way of a curve with a small border wall like 20 cm wide and 30 cm high.
We opted for Plugwall stones 15x20x10 cm from the same manufacture
None of the serious contractors would be interested in this small portion of work...
The only offer we got from the same DIYer who laid this patio is like this:
1) To finish it in the same random design without cutting the stones and without using any edge blocks, and
2) To make a curved wall right on top of the patio stones.
Because:
1) The weight of the wall stones will fix the patio stones in their position. Since the soil is sandy it is quite stable.
2) This will allow us not to cut stones.
3) We can always mask the protruding portions of the patio stones by putting extra level of soil right behind the wall.
Smth makes me think that this idea isn’t good. Could you help me with your advice?
1) Is the offer we got really reasonable in our particular case?
2) Is it possible (not in theory but in real life) to find a contractor who can just cut the stones for us suppose we mark the cutting lines ourselves?
3) Can the wall be constructed on top of the patio stones?
- If YES, is it obligatory to fix the position of the patio stones by the edge blocks?
- If NO, how should we make the wall in the right way?
1. How deep and wide should be the trench for this sort of a wall?
2. What sub-base can we use, if we are trying to avoid using concrete?
3. Can the wall retain the patio stones or is it still obligatory to use the edge blocks?
4. If the level of the garden behind the wall is raised, let’s say 10- 15 cm higher than the level of the patio, shall we think about putting some drainage pipes or making drainage holes in the wall?
Sorry for a long post, but after reading so many articles in this site about “how it should be, I’m somewhat lost. The site is really great and I count on your help. Tnx for reading.

the wall needs to be built before the patio, you dig a shallow foundation (say 200mm) and concrete it
you then build your wall to the curve that you like, and then finally you lay the patio into the wall
yes you will get cuts
but building the wall on the patio is a really bad idea and it would surely fail
you just need an angle grinder with a diamond blade
hope this helps

i built this wall first then cut the paves into it,if you get me
