Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Hi,

We have just had a patio laid and for some reason they have laid it sloping back towards the house. Around the edges is a three inch gap filled with slate chippings, and one edge is butted straight up to the brick wall.

I'm worried that these channels aren't sufficient drainage. Would it cause damp problems? Could anyone recommend any easy fix for this problem?

Thanks in advance

unless you are on freedraining ground this is wrong
any patio falling towards a house should have a linear drain installed connected to a gully

if you could post a picture it will help
