We live on a hill and there are quiet a few springs around the neighbourhood. A new one has appeared on the grass verge just in front of my house and it's leaking out over the road causing a little stream diagonally across the road. The water board assure us that it's "not theirs".

There is a foul drain close by but this is at a lower level than the spring.

Would we be allowed to drain the spring into the foul drain? I have some vague idea that there are regulations about this kind of thing!

It depends whether the spring and the FW drain are on your land, or on public land. You should consult Tech Services at yor local council. Only they can tell you what's right for your particular area.

ALternatively set up a bottling plant and flog it to some supermarket chain at a quid a bottle.

Yes, we thought of that. Since it's just off Pilgrim's Way we thought we could market it as "Pilgrim's Water - Humbly filtered by the pure of heart".
