Is it possible to purchase red diesel for a mini digger?

Absolutely you shouldn't be using anything else. Any diesel powered site machinery and tools should be using it as for where you can buy it try you're local coal and oil suppliers they usually have a pump in the yard.

speak to a friendly local farmer. He would more than likely sell you some.
you can buy it in small drums, delivered too

canal boat yards sell it. i used to get it from them but now i go to local farmer.

Not any more, they all have to run white diesel now......

Not quite true but the law got more complicated. You can use red diesel for leisure boats but have to declare what percentage is for heating, generator etc and what percentage is for driving. The figures have to match up with whatever the limits of the particular boat and onboard equipment are.

You should be using only red diesel in your digger. Roughly 90p-Â£1 a litre for small quantities just now. The bigger companies normally leave you waiting 1-2 weeks for a barrel delivery as they wait until they have a full load of barrels to deliver on their motor. You will have a lot of trouble finding somebody to fill barrels from the tanker now, I don't know of anyone that does it anymore.

Cant tell you where to get it in wales, I can help anyone out in Scotland though.

I know a scrap yard that will sell it to you but its harder to get small amounts as said before.

dave is right, however, there is no enforcement. no one dips the canal boat tanks, and everyone is still getting away with it. I don't blame them either! they can't exactly take the canal boat off you like a car!!

He is wrong about them not being allowed to use red diesel. They have complicated things though so most of them don't sell it at the low tax rate anymore.

They won't take the boat off you but they will shaft you. If they find that you have been illegally using it then they guess how long you have been doing it for, always erring in their favour, and screw you.

I've been selling red diesel for awhile now and need to know all this.

3 statiions in my area sell it at 90p litre msh

garages sell it for the fridge engines. i pay 70p a litre cash, i'm proberly not paying the vat. its easy but i cant put it through books. canal yards sell it say 60/40. ie 60% for transport and 40% for leisure.

Only 5% VAT on quantities less than 2300L so you're not missing out on much.

red fuel is 5% duty for agri. use regardless of how much you buy,
where did you get the 2300L from? MSH
