brought a 3kva honda powered generator from an ebay seller, brand new £140.
BUT, be very careful with using one to boil a kettle, as this is what blows them up (eventually). its the initial surge when you turn it on that the genny cannot cope with. go into your kitchen and turn the kettle on, while watching you lights. you will see them dim slightly with the surge.
most kettles are 2700w.What i have done is brought a small travel kettle that is only about 600w. it hardly makes the genny grunt.
oh by the way, it has 110v built in too.

we have a towable 12kva generator on site for the site cabin, made the mistake of having kettle, microwave and heaters on all at once, blew the 28 amp breakers oops haha kettles have a massive pull on power. we have a 3kva honda one but its petrol put will power 110 tool or a non fast boil kettle and can be lifted by 2 men easily. make sure you keep an eye on it we lost one of site when someone pulled in and just lifted it into tranny and sped off leaving us wondering why no radio haha.
