Well still in the process of fitting my new kitchen and i am now at the cooker,

which is gas and we are changing to electric,

so needed to get the gas pipe cut and capped as it was stopping the new oven going right in. offered it as a job on my builder, (other sites are available)

guy popped round tonight at 8pm yes sunday and done it for £35...

wow and he also informed me the test nipple on the meter was loose and not right and also informed transco who are supposed to be fixing it tonight ...

Fair price, did he test for leaks after capping it?

£65 isnt bad either
different people have different overheads
i did 8 M2 of turf saturday
had to remove some roots and the old turf first
charged him £260
some would say thats a high price ,but the client was happy with what we did
our overheads are relatively high so stuff under £150 is hardly worth me doing

I had some plastering done in my front room recently. The guy made a bit of a cock up with the chimmney breast and the bay windows. I couldnt live with it because they were the main features of the room and stick out like a sore thumb. I had Middlsex plastering in to come and fix it. They quoted me £275. It was a bit pricey but they came in and fixed it in one day. The guy worked his socks off to get it done and did a top job, so I didnt begrudge them the £275

That polished the paint does not stick hehe

I guess it's different for us Tony as we get them generally on day rate, but like Dave said its about perceived value,
