Has anybody here been to Vegas?

Turns out I'm going in October/November this year as part of my 40th "Celebrations" as I'm told it is all downhill from therein......

It was all going to be a complete surprise (after some saving by both of us) but seeing as though I need to renew my passport (£80 ffs) and I have to go to London for a bastard interview to get a visa (ineligible for ESTA due to teenage high-jinks lol....) it's not gonna be cheap...

Has anyone been, what did you like, what was good, what was crap? Any advice welcome :)

PS I'm quite looking fwd to going to Hooters.

OK, will do, all I did was piss about with a road sign/barrier in town whilst on the sauce, got locked up for it and cautioned. That walk of shame home at 7am the next day wasn't my proudest moment LOL Hardly ground-breaking but I cannot afford to fib about it and get turned away!!

It gets expensive, a day off, day trip to town and the $140 fee, comes back to bite you on the arse 20 yrs later on in life.

Thanks Tony, the Hoover dam was on my to do list, so that's good to hear.

Elvis museum sounds good too.

I haven't applied for my esta as I can't answer no to the "moral turpitude" question lol......

I went for 5 days but can barely remember a thing  We did a Helicopter over the grand canyon landed in an Indian Reserve for a Champers picnic and then fly back over the strip at night, well worth doing. Cayotee Ugly bar in New York Hotel. The ride at the top of Stratosphere Hotel! Go to all the big hotels on the strip and go to a show I think the scale of the hotels is the most impressive thing and all have something worth seeing.

be prepared to get mithered by greasy pimps on the strip handing out adverts/flyers - even when walking down the strip with the mrs.

grand canyon fly over and landing is amazing and most hotels are worth a visit for their own reasons - many have free attractions and shows. catch a show, we booked in advance online and collected the tickets over there, cirque du soleil was superb. best value for food are the hotel buffet restaurants - be a fat yank and each as much as you can.
i used to love using tarmac, but got fed up with getting my asphalt

yeah forgot about the pimps,we were newleyweds and yet still they pressed flyers into my hand
i rented a car and drove up to the hoover dam, the whole place is just nuts
that ride on top of the stratosphere has to be the second scariest thing I have ever done, you know how bad it is as when you get off the attendant said " ride again for 2 bucks sir?"
i was white as a sheet
similar to blackpools big shot but 1000 feet higher
even the rollercoaster is lairy that high up

this little devil
I went on it when it was a week old,I didnt know that at the time or I would never have done it
it is so gut wrenching when you have to pull the rip cord from 300 feet up (long way up in flat florida) i almost passed out
this is the big shot another one of those gut churning rides that yanks love so much
looks like the roller coaster was replaced a few years ago by even more insane rides
as karl pilkington would say "whats the point?"
