When the run off water goes into plants is unavoidable extra care is needed, I'd clean the surface first assuming you are going to pressure wash it? this will help with watering the plants/grass down first as it's only dirty water. Once that is done I'd cover any plants with polythene after giving them another good water, this will help protect and stop them getting covered in muck also. Apply the solution allow X amount of dwell time and clean off, once you have the area clean, remove the polythene and re water the plants making sure that they are all ok.

Thanks roger, I'll do that ( protect the leaves ). I'm a bit nervous about the chemicals entering the soil / roots. Will this be a problem? I'm thinking I could make a little retainer out of corex to stop it entering the bed.

That's why we water plants before & after cleaning so the plants don't take up the chemical because they are dry/thirsty if you see what I mean?
