Decking and dpc

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

I was looking to build a small deck area in front garden to finish project off.

Had read a thread from paving expert archive where tony m said that according to regulations you needn't worry about the finished height of decking and DPC as because it's an open structure it won't create DPC problems.

Picked up leaflet at builders merchant today and it says
"WHEN BUILDING UPTO BUILDINGS OR DOOR SILLS, INSTALL THE JOIST STRUCTURE AND DECK BOARDS SO THEY ARE CLEAR OF THE BUILDING BY 10MM AND ALWAYS BELOW THE DAMP COURSE".

The way I planned on doing deck g it would only be a fraction (less than an inch) below DPC, would this be ok or would you guys recommend following paving regs and go 150mm below DPC or what would be minimum depth below DPC would be ok?

I'm thinking there's no chance of DPC being bridged if deck is 10mm away from wall, but could splash back cause problems too?

How would you guys approach decking and DPC problems.

If there was no other option I could try remove concrete step at front door as this where problem is - but I'd rather not interfere with step.

Any suggestions?
