just got back yesterday mick
it was fantastic from start to finish and unlike most holidays I am sad to be back
the pound is strong at the minute so pretty much everything seemed really good value
we have friends there so finding the right places to go was so much easier
the queen mary2 was fabulous as well
would recommend the trip to anyone
view from the top of the rock

peter lugers famous steaks 2" thick
Image

it snowed a bit on our last night
Image

the weatherman kept saying its going to be 7 degrees tomorrow which seemed warmer than what it was, then i realised she was talking farenheit
7 f is about -14c add the windchill and it was brutal
fair play to them though they really crack on with it and by midday the snowploughs had cleared the main drags
every man and his dog were out clearing snow and gritting

this bus slid into a bus stop ,but they got the tow truck there pronto
Image
went to this place as well ,anyone know why its famous?

happy new year to all the BC!

Nice to see the big apple again, I was last there in October 2001 working in the buildings around ground zero. Found the New Yorkers very friendly. My other half has said she would like a cruise, so it would be nice to fly over and sail back. Did you enjoy the QE2? THATS the way to go over there!, I admit to being really jealous now...

looks delicious Tony, is the yellow cow well done ?

struth look at the size of the steak on this first photo, you could use that to wedge a fire door open :)
Sparks Steak House

John Goti ordered the hit on Paul Castellano and Thomas Bilotti who were gunned down near the entrance in 1985, Goti was an out and out animal, a neighbour who accidentally ran over and killed his young son was shot dead and his body dissolved in a barrel of acid, I also read years ago that Goti cut him up with a chain saw before disposing of his body

lol I only know about the cows as we used to have a restaurant in Bolton called Smithills Coaching House what used a similar set up with the cows they even had a blue cow if your steak was cooked blue

yeah well worth it, it taste so good over there, even though we can now have steak what's been cured or marinated for up to 3 weeks they do it so much better and the meat cuts like butter even using a normal knife where as in the UK we are hacking through the gristle with a knife sharp enough to shave with

did you dine with the Captain on the Captains table ?

love the guard rail position was there only you on deck it looks deserted, the sea looks calm

exactly Mick
the knives they gave us were like butter knives
says it all
the fella sailing it was the commodore and he was a right stuck up so and so
but with 2500 passengers there was no way of eating at his table and TBH i wouldnt want to
they had various cocktail receptions with him but no one was allowed to shake his hand in case he got the shits :;):

deck 8 there was always plenty of smokers out there morning noon and night chuffing away

I must admit I now find the smell of smoking repulsive, all the casino's in Vegas allow smoking at the table, not wanting to preach to anyone but I stopped smoking going cold turkey May last year and what drives me on to not smoke again is to stand near someone who has just finished a cigarette and that's enough to not want to start again, I normally have to endure it at least twice a week and have to turn away sometimes so I can breath fresh air

you can just imagine it, your stood talking to the Captain he asked what do you do "em well I'm in the building trade" ....stops the conversation and walks away :)

I love that Beefeater link so much I watched all 4 parts.
Sad thing is I used to visit the Tower of London regularly to maintain their telephone system, I knew of the Beefeater tours and although I had the time I regret to say I never bothered to stop and tag along.
