whilst at my yard on wednesday, i started up my avant, unclipped the front bucket to put the forks on, and then jumped on the machine to move it , only to discover my dog, donny, had decided to go to sleep under the front wheels.you can imagine my horror and upset.
I rushed him to the vets, and although he seemed ok, he was very old, had a lung problem, and was getting athritus, so i took the tough descision to have him put to sleep.
been beating myself up all week since that i ended his life earlier than should have been.
going to miss having him at work by my side, as will many customers. sad times

Sorry to hear that. We lost our dog on Wednesday, was in my workshop on Wednesday night and because she wasn't by my side It felt empty. So picked up the local paper and a Quick phone round and a trip out Thursday morning, and I bought 3 new sheepdog pups. Wife and kids are happy and it has eased my pain slightly, cause I've got some company in the workshop.

its not till their gone that you realize how much of your life they took over. been feeling down today about it as i would have taken him on his sunday morning walk and fed him the leftovers.

it would be too soon for me, and i would feel i am trying to replace him too quick. I gave away the leftover food and blankets to the dog rescue place where i got him from. Least i could do. So lucky i could have a dog to take to peoples gardens who never left the site even if the gate was open!

It just reinforces the question of dogs, children and also a few grown ups I know being allowed at work. Could of been a child under there.

I do apologise DDD, thought you said 'started machine in yard.' Good job it wasn't a work yard then.
