We share a site with an internal stone fabrication company. They are currently working on a developemnt in London. I saw one of their stone masons working on this yesterday and i thought it was a brilliant example of how versatile natural stone is and also what, with a bit of imagination can be done with natural stone.

I was thinking more for a feature wall or a water feature as opposed to paving. I think it would work as cladding too

surely that finish is for a vertical situation, it would just collect dirt, chewing gum and cig butts if it was laid flat for paving

is that a wood bashers bevel edged chisel he is using to chip away the stone ?

the finish is different but very labour intense, personally i would much rather see a sawn finish with sandblasted or flamed surface which is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye

Your right mick, it couldn't be used on the floor. It's designed to go vertically as you say.
It is labour intensive but it would only be used on small feature areas. I am going to try it out on some other materials and see how it looks, also interested to see how it would look if you cut the grooves further apart. Yeh it is a wood chisel, does the job though

imagine getting to the last 2 rows and breaking a large chunk off flush with the saw cuts, you would cry :)

it would be good to see the saw cuts further apart to give the stone a different look again

Got some good news to share with the BC

We are opening up a 3rd showroom over in Essex. Work actually started today on the build and we are going to open up at the beginning of April. This should be our best yet, the design is top notch and I've got Mr Noon to come and lay the paving

I'm going down in the morning to meet up with groundworkers so I will get plenty of photos and get them posted on this thread.

I've had limited access to the BC as there is a problem with my IP address at new factory. Hopefully get it sorted soon as got shed loads of photos to put up
