Apart from cats liking 10 mill, is there any reason other then what you prefar, to use 10 mill or 20 mill gravel? for a low maintenance border, with pots to sit on,

Might find 10mm easier to place your pots on.
Gravel at 35mm thick will cover 15 - 20 sq. metres / Tonne.

20 mm gravel creates more voids and they are larger than would be found with a 10mm gravel. These voids collect detritus, so, in effect a 20mm gravel require more maintenance than a 10mm gravel.
