Arthur scargill was in the high court today. He's been living in a flat in the barbican FOC for who knows how long, courtesy of the NUM. he argues that it's his right as a former NUM official. The NUM think differently and want him out.
When scargill was head of the unions they were 170,000 strong, now they are just 1700 which equates to them all paying £20 a year to keep him in the flat. He does have another house in Barnsley, obviously his principles aren't as strong as his need to live in the barbican

He needs the flat so he's local and can pop in for tea with his old mucker, Thatcher. Between the pair of 'em, they completely wrecked the economy and employemnt prospects of vast swathes of northern Britain.

Its amazing how many people dont actually get this. Scargill has the bit between his teeth, the way he made all the UK's miners unemployable this must be small beer to him .

I cant stand these Union leaders. They claim to love there industries and their members. All they really love is there own ego's. Bob Crowe will do the same to the transport industry as Scargill and Thatcher did to the mining industry. Complete idiots

and that Mikey, you'll notice there all on six figure salaries. Although Bob Crowe lives in a council house, even though he's pocketing best part of 100k per year. What a shower

For every over-paid under-worked union leader, there are a score of over-paid under-worked bosses. For every Bob Crowe there's a Fred Goodwin or a Bob Diamond or a Tiny Rowland (showing my age now!). Like Thatcher and Scargill, they feed off each other's excesses and justify their offensive freeloading by claiming they are not as bad as the other.

You can't eliminate either: a world without worker protection is as scary as a world without bosses. Both are necessary evils.

Only £100K a bit more then that Steve, the sooner someone loose's him the better, then the London underground won't be in the mess it is in.

Personally I have no time for unions etc, just there to give talentless idiots a title who are supposed to be looking after the common man, which the common man could do himself without the bullshit of a union.

Dont forget you can thank a union for holidays, sick pay , maternity pay, etc. etc. I'm in favor of unionism, but Scargill is a fighter and he will use all of his armory in this battle.

even when i was a worker for others i disliked unions
do your job and get paid,
do more work and get paid more was my mantra

I know a mate of mine on the trains well
1 more jumper and he gets automatic retirement on full pension
nice fella good luck to him and all that
but every time he sees someone on a platform crying, hes thinking
"this is the money shot"
which is a sad state of affairs

heres an example of a job i was on a few years ago which should of had a union on it.management total arses.hours 7.30 a.m to 6pm mon to fri . saturday 8 till 4. sunday the same . flat rate all hours. you worked three weeks on and the next weekend off .if you missed a day on the weekend you were supposed to be in on , you were sacked on the monday . sometimes you do need a union.
