Crappy day

yesterday went to a customer ive been doing for about 7 years did the usual started without nocking saw the milk was still there an the post thought it was odd then i saw a leg in the hall through the window she was on the floor at the bottom of the stairs tried to talk to her through the letterbox no reply but shewas awake called 999 they sent paramedic an the coppers to break in seams like the poor woman was there since at least saturday hope she will be ok

i'd of broke in, time is important but well done to you. Hope she will be ok.

......i didn't say i would of treated the lady. I did say: well done. You don't need to be a p'medic to give verbal comfort lll. sometimes e' sevices can take a while. I wish someone had broken in and gave my sister comfort when she collapsed on her own with 3 breadsnappers age 4 downwards. Sadly she lay there 2 days but unlike the elderly lady, it was to late for my sister. so yes i would of broke in and rang emergency at the same time.

I did think about breaking in but then what im a gardener what could i do plus then what do i do about makeing the house secure they took about 8 mins to get there so dont think it would have made much difference she was by the front door so i was able to speak to her through the letterbox. poped in there tonight to finish the grass dont like to leave a job half done left a note for her/ her family asking if they could possibly let me know how she is an if they want me to keep the place tidy for her cos i know how much the garden means to her

there was n elderly lady in the news last week. She fell over outside the hospital but had to wait 3 hours for an ambulance to arrive from 8 miles away, lay in the gutter with her daughter comforting her. That ended well. You can never say how long e' services will be. You did the right thing by calling emergency, then it is a personal choice about breaking in. Didn't know you were able to talk to her through letterbox. I apologise michael.

sounds like you did the right thing, and a good job you realised something was amiss.

I have lived next to 2 lots of very elderly people and it becomes second nature knocking 2-3 times a week to see if they need a lift to the shops or anything like that

its people like yourself and the postman that are the support for a lot of people

when my mate/neighbour arthur died (87) family showed up in droves to pick through his possessions
in the 8 years i lived next door i only ever saw his daughter when she was up borrowing money

last time I had to ring the police they were there in 2 minutes
i suppose it depends where you live

it's just the thought that if she laying there unable to move, i could of helped if i broke in, helped myself to the tv, video, the tom, maybe had a cuppa and sarnie to :;): i know, i know, another 2 months on the naughty step, i'll never get back from coventry at this rate :laugh:

I'd of considered booting the door down as well, isn't that the first thing the coppers did anyway. Although in this crazy world you'd probably get done for breaking and entry.

she phoned today shes just come home wanted to thank me and arrange for me to go again seams her family couldnt be assed to tell me she was ok ........

all in all it wasn't such a crappy day then michael. You may just of saved the womans life. I'd give yourself a good pat on the back, well done. I've saved a couple of lives and i know it makes you feel good about yourself, after the initial crapping yourself. I went through so many emotions then.

i feel alot better about it all now i know shes ok seams her family didnt even go in to pick up her post every time i went past her house i could see it was pileing up by the front door makes you think dont it hope i dont end up alone with family that dont care ....
