Anyone else here slightly fussy like me with certain things?
Manhole covers, esp multiple ones as found on interceptors - I like to have the lined up perfectly and square, orientated all the same with the writing on the covers all going the same way - this is just one of my fussy things.
Another one is the ductile gratings on S Aco drains - I like the lettering all to go one way and not mixed and matched up and down - the lads thought I was joking when I asked them to do so!
Anyone else have these small annoyances?

Acco tops all facing the same way is one of my things too and recessed cover handles all lined up aswell. Rarely use standard covers but would probably do the same if I did. It's attention like this that differentiates you for your staff rarely would you find an employee pay enough attention to the kind of finish you'd put your name too without a bit of tweaking.
Can't see it from my house

I'm glad I'm not the only one with Aco tops, even the small galvanised ones need to be right!

Oh and another thing, I hate odd numbers - I will never pick up an odd number of items (if practicable....)
Serial numbers of machines etc - I always look out for serials ending in an even number.
Weirdo.

I always make the crew sort tiles, slabs etc into piles by size and shade. This takes quite some time on a 500m2 job but ensures a uniform appearance accross the job. And even though we generally fabricate our own covers, seeing logos upside down across the job would irk me hugely.
On one of my first days here I sent a plumber to the market to buy a tap for a cold water tube and he came back with a tap with a red sign on top. I went mad. He assured me that a hot tap would work just as effectively for cold water. When I sent him back to the shop to exchqnge for a blue, he could not believe it... Tough going here sometimes!!!

Me too, i feel guilt if i see half a worm squirming, will always pick up a toad amd move it. Had a chicken in my bucket this week!!Carberry wrote:Get weird looks from customers when I'm digging, if there is a worm or a bug or anything in the way I pick it up, carry it to somewhere where I'm not going to be working then continue working.
My labourer has a thing about the volume on radios having to be on an even number, i have great fun changing it to an odd. He cant stand to leave it more than about thirty seconds... Nut job

Me too with the wildlife, aco/IC covers etc. I hate the lads leaving any rubbish/drink cans etc on site, and always lose it when smokers throw fag butts into Planting beds, gravel borders etc but my pet hate is mess i.e messy mixing spot boards, uncleaned tools, spilt aggregates left lying about Grrrrrrrr
Gi it sum ommer

fag ends are a big bete noir of mine
also hands in pockets at any time
I used to have it worse as a kid ,i would have to cross my legs three times or if i scratched an ear would have to do the other one
I think everyone has it to some extent
my definition of true OCD is someone who steps out of the shower to take a piss :;):

Yeah smokers yuk, we use one labourer infrequently who smokes and on the big jobs like new build house we have no smoking site so out on the street to smoke, but we were on a little job in the wagon and he started to smoke in the cab while we sheltered from the rain, I made him stand in the rain as he wouldn't put it out.
