Costs bugger all to take people to small claims. Worth it even if they dont pay. I report them to the police as well for fraud

Some people have no morals.

Best of luck Dan, we've been there in the past and have picked up a bad debt recently to the tune of £2k. Bastard won't answer his phone. Was a Highway job so can't go back there and plane it out. Very frustrating.
if they dont pay after 28 days £75 fee to send bailfs round to collect, its enforcible as long as you push for it

he sounds like a complete no mark dan
every time we have hired your machine, you have clearly instructed us not to leave the ignition on when the machine is off
I know this is probably a design fault ,but its not your fault
I went as a material witness to a county court and it was a shambles
myself and the plaintiff basically had a massive argument with the defendants and their solicitor
the judge looked very disinterested and bemused
IMHO it was a waste of a day

Update

Today i had a mediator telephone me about this (pre arranged), which is somethng the courts do to try to resolve before a hearing.
My hearing date was 8th sept, so a long way off.
I gave her the full story. She went back and phoned him, then called me back.
He couldn't understand why i didn't just go round and get my money (hes 45 mile away!), and he reckoned he moved address so didn't get my letters (yet the address he gave her was the one i had?!) he offered to pay £140. I refused. I told her its £140+vat+£25 court fee.
He agreed, and i supposedly have a cheque coming to me.
She advised me not to cancel the court hearing until i have cleared funds!
Watch this space, but at the moment, it looks like a winner

Fingers crossed Dan. Not sure I could have allowed the time and effort you have done so for a £140 outstanding invoice, currently fighting a £2k one at the moment. Trust no-one.

Well done. Fed up with ars*holes thinking they can rip off people and small businesses.

I only have 1 debt left to settle now, only £200 but finally found where he lives.

I got one for 3k at the moment, we are charging interest too. Guy has ignored courts etc. So it was ruled in our favour as simply as that. now family friend has taken it on and will collect, cant say too much more but our bailiff guy is ruthless in a legal way

this is the thing. when they ignore the courts, what happens?
i know someone who is chasing money, they sent the bailiffs in, and they came back and said it all in someone elses name, so cannot remove anything.
He wants to now bankrupt him, but thats more cost, and will he get his money?

my dad had a bad one on a big development with a 40+ year friend, the friend owned the site old car garage we built the houses(5x5 bed and 8x2 bed apartment) and then he was to get 750K, done on hand shake the guy was sinking faster than the titanic unbeknown to us he remortgaged the site to the tune of 1.8m cost my dad big, 15 years hard work gone in a flash the guy owes us £960k i wanted to kill him, but the guy hasnt got anything his house is mortgaged for 2m probably worth 1.2 if that. the debts there, weve bankrupted him but we aint ever going to see it, damn shame as that would have bought a lot of new plant :) you gotta laugh or youd cry

The best one is attaching the debt to the property of the other party. He can sit it out and not pay, while all the time you are earning good interest on your money. In turn they cannot sell property without paying you first, as you have a debt listed against the property. At 50p a day interest it soon adds up quickly

not always the case on getting your money though, many years ago I have had charging orders attached to properties and when the houses was sold there was not enough equity in the property for me to get paid as other lenders came first and I ended up walking away with nothing
