Tip of the day

Ok so here are the rules, add a tip of the day, try to keep it on topic and try to be a helpful tip, can be about anything or everything.

Lets keep it midly clean and non offensive haha lets see how long we can keep it going.

i'll start

If you leave a dumper running with concrete in it acts like a vibrating poker and sets the concrete quicker, always turn off a dumper/power barrow with concrete in when not moving...

Never leave a roller parked on freshly laid bitmac with the engine ticking over it will leave a drum indent mark in the surfacing. Always turn the engine off

never leave a stuck dumper/digger or truck ticking over as it helps it go deeper

stuck bolts can be helped to loosen by taping opposing sides of the nut faces with 2 hammers

If you roll a machine switch it off fast as you can, oil will begin travelling up the bores and cause havoc with lifters etc.

When starting any petrol engine, never use choke for more than 5 pulls, after that 5 pulls without, then you can pull 5 with choke

when using sharp kitchen utensils always read the effing manual first

if you burn your hand while say cooking etc run it under the hotest water you can stand then cool it down rather than straight to cold, my chef mate swears by this

No matter how hard you push the levers, a digger wont dig any harder... I still cant get my head round that for some reason!

Always make sure the plastic handles on a wheel barrow are securely fastened to the steel tube before setting of down hill with a barrow of tar...

Don't try and push a wheelbarrow full of concrete up steps. My brother, who was doing his masters in physics at the time, tried that and covered my recently laid slabs in concrete.
