Looking very good for us at the moment phone hasnt stopped ringing for the last 2 weeks got loads of quotes to sort and about 3 months lined up. Went to see one guy last Friday who we were reccomended to. He wanted a full landscape front and back and we quoted 15grand. He was flying to Dubai for work that night so transfered half the cash upfront and said we could get it done anytime between now and August when he gets back, does'nt mind what products we use or what design as long as its clean and tidy when he returns just send him some pics as we work. Got a glass and brushed steel rabbit run to make and a tripple dog kennel/run with a florida beech hut style brief? and a 5aside pitch to create. Just on with 6 new build townhouses at the moment Marshalls Pendal Patios & turfing and planting.

I used to do Life drawing on me design Degree, the guy was nuts. He used to make chicken noises, and crack jokes while standing around with his cobs out, proper good bloke. Mind you the 20 something pretty goth girl who posed for the night class was worth staying late for, although she was a Lesbian. Of course I never let that put me off, true professional I am!!

Yes, I'm serious. Very good money. I'm getting £440 for 2 hours work this weekend.

Got some interesting stories, some funny, some sick :p

Going to be focusing on that part of the business over the next few weeks, got a few ideas for bringing in more work, trying to think of any ways to improve the 'class' too.

Phone has been very lively over the past 5 wks or so, been out and priced 6 reasonable jobs thisavo, more to see tomorrow PM then a meeting with our H&S Advisor.

Rates are pretty much rock-bottom and costs are sky-high so that's just great ain't it?

Generally have a good feel for the job - and I do quite often find when I loose a job what the winners rate was.

There are some very busy fools out there - like someone doing overlay work at £12/metre - £850+VAT all in with no allowance for any prep work (forming joints, raising covers, sweep & tack etc etc)

we work on 30% rule dan
if we get roughly 1 in 3 jobs we price we know we are in the ballpark
more than 1 in 3 means we are too cheap and less means too dear

bear in mind that everyone has different overheads ,so prices can vary but both have been worked correctly

we do not and never have used and kind of banking facility,I know a lot of lads that have 50 grand overdrafts :(

I used to find that out of every 3 potential customers,1 was a reccomendation,1 was someone looking for a comparison quote ,and 1 would be a total messer
