Who do you chaps bank with ?
I have had a Halifax Current Account for years but getting peed off with there really simple £1.00 per day overdraft facility.(Times 3 current accounts with them,Cash flow is a bitch at the mo.)
Made an application with Natwest.
A commercial client banks with them aswell.Am i right to assume that cheques issued by client will clear quicker as they have a Natwest Account.

There's very little difference in accounts these days they'll always get you somehow and you'll pay the same just in a different way. As for cheques in theory yes it will clear quicker but in reality it won't I try and get all my clients to do Bacs and pay everyone I can by it as well. Other ways of being smart with money are the likes of tesco credit cards I use my wifes(they wouldn't give me one because of my occupation) and put at least £3000 a month on it and get loads of points as a result meaning when I go shopping I save a wedge I also never pay for a ferry to Scotland becuase of how many points I have.

Co op, through FSB. Don't have to pay silly bank charges. Never used the business manager with the other banks I have used and the business counter was often slower than the normal one


Good idea on the credit cards Pablo, I have a couple of business ones, never thought of using a personal one and racking up points on it.

hsbc business banking,got them down to under a tenner a month through some creative shenanigans similar to pablos
I only really use it to pay myself and the revenue (had to send a big fat corporation tax BACS today to them)
BACS is the way forward,I wont take a cheque anymore ,too much fannying around parking and waiting in queues.

sold a vehicle recently for £1500 plus vat = £1800
paid the cash into my business account and the bank charged
me nearly £16 for the privilege of paying cash into the account

Phone your account manager and challenge it I do that with every charge I get and it's usually dropped.

Been with santander for 3 years now, 100% charge free apart from overdraft interest,they stopped that account now to new custom so i'm still ok...lol,opened another a\c with them last week cost £7 month for unlimited transactions and £3000 cash per month deposit,service is not one off the best but saves me 40 quid or month, MSH

That's shocking, no wonder the UK has a black market.

most buisness a/c charge 50-80p per hundred to deposit cash
HSBC charge 80p,barclays 75p its a rip off,pay cash into a free a\c then transfer it over thats what my old buisness manager told me to do MSH

FSB charge £200 for joining there "organisation".
Bit like paying Facebook £200 a year for the privelege of
talking to your mates.
I joined LinkedIn the professional Facebook for buisnesses.
A promotion offered a months free trial,suffice to say,i cancelled
the months trial before i was locked into a years "subsciption"
Waste of time same with FMB (Ferderation of Master builders.
All self serving tossers in my opinion.

i use my current account and credit card as much as possible
and in this day and age paying cash in to the bank makes you look like a crook of some ilk
the charge for paying cash in shocked me at first
but they are there to make money i suppose

Local pub offers cashback.
Its cheaper than taking takings to the bank.
They encourage staff to offer cashback like
have u got a nectar card,clubcard,members card.

More than paid for itself in legal advice, standard letters and avoiding bank charges.
It's not for everyone but so far it has been very good value for money for me.

Edit: Just checked figures, it's costing me £100 a year for membership
