it's about time they started drug testing artists before a gig, if they fail then ban them from everywhere. Why should they be treated any different from joe bloggs on a building site. Artists, footballers, members of parliament in fact anyone that is in the public eye should be random tested. I never used to think that people in the public eye caused kids to drink take drugs etc: but now the jury is out

A lot of music, art, poetry and any other creative venture came about because of drug use. Even major scientific discoveries.seanandruby wrote:it's about time they started drug testing artists before a gig, if they fail then ban them from everywhere. and a lot of murders, rapes, car accidents/murder, kiddy fiddling ( see gary glitter ) suicides. We need good role models to encourage good behaviour from our kidsCarberry wrote:seanandruby wrote:it's about time they started drug testing artists before a gig, if they fail then ban them from everywhere. just for a bit of balance, who gave anyone the right to tell other people what to do?
if its my body and i am not hurting anyone then what business is it of yours
drinking is probably the most dangerous drug around and yet it is perfectly legal and acceptable
same with smoking
both are highly addictive as we all know
my daughter's role models are her parents
its up to us to step up to the plate
most wasters i know had some kind of jermey kyle style home life
who wants to live to 100 lying in bed all the time, getting your arse wiped for you and eating cold sludge through a straw?
whitney was a junkhound but AFAIK never claimed to be a role model

As long as they're not harming anyone I don't see any problem with it. Good things have come from drugs, many inventors and scientists have been inspired whilst on LSD etc. The beatles had to have been high whilst writing most of their music. As LLL says, alcohol is far more dangerous but it is socially acceptable for some reason.
The problem is when morons take them, they don't know what they're taking, they don't know what they're getting in to. I don't think anyone takes heroin or crack and thinks this will be great, I'll become a junkie, steal from everyone, alienate my family, go to prison and rot. They probably think they can handle it.
As for role models, does anyone seriously look at amy whinehouse, pete doherty, post crack whitney etc and go.. I want to be like that. I want to be a f*cking zombie.
