Its been a pretty sad christmas my end.
ON 4th december, my old man thought he was having a heart attack, and paramedics arrived to assess him, and could find nothing wrong.
At work next day, he leaves a message on my mobile to thank me for popping round, he said he was sick in the night, felt much better, but annoyed that when he rang doctors for an appointment, he would have to wait a week!
7pm that night as i was going out, mobile rings. The wife in tears tells me to rush round to mums, as dad was having another heart attack.
As i arrived, one ambulance and three paramedic cars outside, and i find mum sitting on the stairs in total shock. i had to sit with her, all the time hearing them use the defib, and manually keeping him going.
Sadly, when we arrived at the hospital he had passed away
He was 66, and mum had been retired two weeks.
Funeral was on 19th, and was attended by well over 100 people. local rag did a big piece on him as he was such a popular charachter. We had a humanist ceremony, which was very moving.
To top it all, it would have been his birthday on christmas day.
We are all still coming to terms with this, especially as there was no warning. He was the guy who got me started in business with his advice and financial help. we did so much together, and had a good laugh.
All i can do is look back on the good times, and know that i gave him the best send off i could.
next christmas i hope will be a better occasion.

thanks. his life insurance paid the paltry sum of £1960. lucklily mum is mortgage free, and should be able to stay in the house. they have only been there a year!
