went for a walk this afternoon with miss lout and tiffles the dog, anyway we were in some woods near luton and we were approached by 3 dogs all off the lead
they immediately became very aggressive to tiffles so i picked him up,there was a German Shepherd,a husky type dog and a jack Russel
basically the next 3-4 minutes was 1 of the scariest moments of my life, the husky started jumping up trying to bite tiffles who was in my arms, miss lout was screaming then the husky got a grip of tiffles tail and pulled him out of my arms
they then started to do what hounds do to a fox
the owner had arrived by this time and she tried to free tiffles ,i was doing what i could but the husky dogs jaws had locked
anyway the up shot is I got bit on the hand, the owner got bit by her own dog and poor tiffles has around 15 puncture wounds
i said to the woman that those dogs should be on a lead, and we swapped address's
the owners husband came to see me a while later and said it was just high jinks and dogs will be dogs
if he had of come apologetic i could maybe have accepted that, but to insinuate that we were asking for it by walking a small dog is beyond belief,oh and tiffles was on the lead the whole time
what is it with people who own dangerous dogs and think its ok to walk them unmuzzled and off the lead
mrs lout has taken tiffles to the emergency vet now as he is very poorly
grrr
LLL :(

sorry to hear about your troubles.
it all ways seems the same with dog owners same as kid owners, some are brought correctly and some are just tossers!
Have a 3yr old ess, as a pup got bowled over and bitten twice by other dogs,as i type this he is curled up under the chair fast asleep after a full day beating. BUT he will still have nothing todo with other dogs at all sees one he just comes running back to heal, even if beating with other dogs, just doesnt want to know he just sleeps

Report it mate, it could be someones face next receiving a bit of their "Hi-jinks". We live by a beautifull Park/woodland which is ruined by a minority of Dog walkers, dogs off leads, crap not bagged, etc. Trouble is most pet owners are used to their dogs behaviour, and generally can control it, but the rest of us aren't and shouldn't have to worry. I had one guy, who's very large Poodle, off lead, had jumped up my 3 year old, scaring her and my 6 year old, who after I told him to put he dogs on a lead, said that "if your kids are scared of dogs, they shouldn't be in the Park". Luckily for him I was on my own with the Kids, so I had to mild down my response, but I informed him of various places he could go to and where I would place his Permed Wolf for him!!

Good advice from all above.

Definitely report it and threaten legal action for costs and compensation. Photograph all injuries and keep vets bills etc. People like that disgust me. They shouldn't be allowed to think that they can get away with their dogs causing injury and distress.

The missus always thinks I am overreacting when I grab the nearest weighty stick if I see a sizeable dog off the lead without apparent owners but it I do it precisely for encounters like you have had.

As others have said, report them.

Only dogs that I have had run ins with were a husky and a jack russell. Jack russell my hand about 7 years ago, still got the scar from where the canine punctured my hand. A jack russell has also attacked my friends Labrador before too, now she is frightened of all small dogs.

A husky off a lead attacked my dog about 10 years ago. The husky had my dogs head in it's jaws and wouldn't let go. I had my work clothes on so just started kicking it with the steel toe caps in the ribs and balls until it finally released my dog.

Jack russells are nippy little shits, people don't think they're dangerous because they're small but in my experience they are more likely to attack than other dogs.
As for huskys, they should not be off the lead, ever just because they like to run away.

People make the mistake of not doing the research when they get a dog. They dont bother to socialise it properly and are then suprised when it attacks everything. Then to compound the issue they let it off the lead without any control. Ive trained gun dogs and its not difficult to have an obedient dog if you just read a little and take the correct action

Report it mate, we all know it could be a child next time. A jack russel is/was bred as a rat catcher hence the vicious nature and a husky is not a good pet, bred for working and protecting the owner against wild animal attack in its natural habitat.

its getting done,am off for a tetanus jab in 10 minutes
TBH should have had one years ago
thing is with the adrenalin I didn't even feel the dog bite me
been reading up on it and every year 5000 people are admitted to hospital suffering from dog bits
I do agree though, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners

I wear my riggers when I take my dog out. Poor fella gets attacked every few weeks....

One time he got attacked and I asked the young chav why his staffy was off the lead if it's nasty, his reply was "how does f*ck off sound"
