Juts got back from France to find a new landscaping magazine on my desk called "pro landscaper"

its pretty well put together and there is a good feature called "how to make a profit from landscaping" which explains about properly understanding how to price jobs up.

I was a bit weary when I saw that none of the management team have that much experience in landscaping but they seem to have quite a few people on board with practical experience. Very nicely designed and i say good luck to them

Good luck indeed our industry is seriously under represented when it comes to Landscaping publications. There have been a few who have tried and failed before to do this. I think the problem they have is that the spectrum of landscape work is so broad that it's hard to have a maintenance contractors attention for long when you're talking about nurseries and a nurseryman has no interest in grassmachinery or hardscaping and so on. The ones I've bought before were solely about garden building but it's not published anymore. Has anyone dealt with the Proffessional Landscapers Association they seem to be in each others pockets so to speak.

i was only thinking today as i flicked through earthmovers a pavingexpert type magazine would be cool with latest products and job walk throughs etc, have to look out for it, its it free to trade paid by advertising type?

Its not a bad read, though may be trying to cover to many bases and appeal to all in the landscape trade...Maintenance/construction. Hopefully it will stay around longer than previous attempts and end up as a short lived pull out on Horticulture Week.
My only concern is the magazine seams to be sales and marketing staff only Presumably buying in the technical writing. This means the articles might be a bit hit & miss. They aught to get the gaffa writing a regular Hardscape piece.
Just got my invite to do a Q&A for it...favourite Spice girl sort of thing....Now to go away and think of something that makes me sound hip & clever :-/

if its free it will be full of stuff like the "bricky" and other bumf

I get Landscape and Amenity sent to me every month, it's free if you register on their website, it's not too bad quite a lot of grounds maintenance stuff in it though.

That was my first impression as well but after I read a bit I was quite impresses with the content and the style. the big challenge with writing one of these magazines is getting decent fresh content which will keep the reader glued to the mag. The problem with the internet these days is that all the info is online somewhere FOC.

good luck to them but not sure if it will take off. Also from an advertisers point of view we would be the type of company they are looking to sell advertising space to. in my experience advertising in mags does not work. We've tried loads over the years and never had any success whatsoever

my old fella got sucked into a magazine venture
some steam railway thing
first 2 issues were a pound each then they had to sell 2000 a month to break even
hes still got a stack of them in his loft
you have to get people hooked straightaway
