No, this Villa is the one they built in Shropshire for the 'Rome wasn't built in a day' programme

To be fair it looked a bodge up all round when I watched it, the guys who built these originally would of been time served guys, with a load of slave labour as back up, not a load of fat blokes making it up as they went along.

I may have missed the last episode of the show. I was under the impression they were going to build a functional roman villa. Only the out side shell of the building was complete. None of the rooms inside were complete, just unfinished wooden beams with plaster slapped on them and concrete floors. The paving out side was Indian sand stone, some of it had been cut with diamond blades, other parts with a chisel. Not all of it was concreted down, loads of loose pieces. It looked to me that they had either run out of time or money to complete the project. None of the guys that built the villa were credited for it any where on site. Fair play to the lads that built it not being able to use modern day tools/equipment but it wasn’t worth the 12 quid to see it, or the 170 mile 3.5 hour round trip. I did email LLL more than the two pics he posted, but the work quality shown sums up the unposted pics.

watched one episode of this and thought it was a complete con, the lad was using a wheelbarrow and the Romen's used slaves. also the fact that we dont have the skills they had due to technology.

the third picture wouldnt open ken,it had a broken link sign on it
I guess with all things TV once the show was a wrap, they just deserted it as all TV companies are want to do
I have done some work with film companies and they are close to traffic wardens and estate agents IMHO.
a real Roman terrace would have been built up from larger aggregates to fines at the surface then stone masons would have shaped the stone
cheers LLL :)

I must have done summat wrong then as I sent you 10 pics! Never mind, the pics of the 90 degree herringbone block paving using reclaimed house bricks was truly awful!
