Concrete over block and beam

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Hi I have to lay concrete over a block and beam floor. The floor is for a garage> Approx 5m x 7m.
1- Do I need expansion joints?
2- Is a depth of 80mm ok(i have read concrete should be min 100mm?
3- Any other advice

Many thanks
steve

Why concrete? The normal 'finish' for a block and beam floor is a layer of insulation, then a damp/vapour membrane (although some say these should be t'other way around), and then a relatively thin sand/cement screed that's usually 40mm or so thick.

Movement joints are not normally used unless there is a 'joint' in the underlying blocks/beam construction.

Hi the reason I say concrete is because the block and beam supplier specified this. I have block and beam in the rest of the house extension and as you say I have a screed finish. I guess it must for extra strength for the weight of two cars standing on it.

Aaaah! If it's a garage floor and you have the cars in there, then concrete, or a granolitic mortar is the right stuff to use. I just assumed this was a standard internal floor.
