Over the last couple of months or so, a number of manufacturers have been in touch looking to promote the use of their products in the paving industry, and after a bit of pleading from meself, they have agreed to supply free materials for specific jobs in return for permission to photograph the installation process and use the photies in publicity material. Some of this 'publicity material' is destined for this website, and some will experience wider dissemination, appearing in magazines, leaflets, brochures and the like.

More and more manufacturers are taking up this idea, but because of my health, I can only cope with so many at a time. Consequently, instead of dropping a whole load of opportunities on you at once, they're going to be staggered over the next 12-18 months.

The first two offers are....

A MAJOR name in the drainage industry is looking for a residential paving installation where their esteemed linear drainage channels can be incorporated. The channels, gratings and any necessary fixtures and fittings will all be supplied free of charge to the right job - all they want in exchange is permission for me to photograph and document the installation process.

They're not bothered whether it's blocks, flags, bitmac, concrete or moondust...as long as it's their linear drains, in a nice setting, with pretty photos. They'll supply up to 10 metres of channels, so no taking the piss and asking them to supply for a supermarket car park contract you've just won!

Offer numero two involves a tarmac refurbisher. This is basically a highly-developed, top of the range, slurry overlay for rejuvenating tired-looking driveways. It doesn't just re-blacken the insipid grey bitmac that's there at the moment: this stuff actually beefs up the binder, strengthening the wearing/surface course while making it all look like new. I've seen it and it's bloody good stuff!

The product is due to be launched in October, so if anyone is asked about what to do to spruce up a sad-looking bitmac driveway in between now and then, please get in touch. The offer is for sufficient quantities of the magic jollop to re-cover the driveway, and, as with the previous offer, good photos in a pretty-ish setting will be viewed most favourably.

Contact me at the usual address or telephone number if you think you might have just the project for either of these offers. :)

This sounds very intresting

"slurry overlay for rejuvenating tired-looking driveways"

do you any piccys of this? or a company website perhaps?

"linear drainage channels"

Hi
I have been reading your forum and consulting your site for a few years now and have always been extremely impressed.
I have finished a barn conversion in Somerset and after a few years of saving up some money am now in a position to finish off the driveway , patios etc. I will probably be using approx 400 sq m 4 x 4 x 2.5 inch new granite setts ( Is the half thickness sett a mistake?). There are many level changes with steps and a very complicated layout .I will be making extensive use of linear drainage so I would be interested in the drainage offer(unless it uses plasic grids) . I will be contacting you later for advice on this project anyhow.I will be getting the granite in early October and will begin mid october.
Great Site
Mark

To Dominion - I'm not at liberty to divulge the companies making these offers just at the moment, but they are both very large companies, and definitely names you will know. However, until all the loose ends are tied-up, I can't say owt.

To MarkB:

50mm thick setts, what you refer to as half-thickness cubes, are fine for residential driveways. I've been involved in a number of projects where they've been used and there's been no problems so far.

Contact me by email for further info on the linear channel offer.

What I need is someone to come and pave my drive for free. In return I'll let them take all the photos they want.

If they want to put in drains as well - so much the better.
