ever had one of them days ? back in january i went out to see my girlfriend and as i was going down the road hit a patch of ice and slid in to the back corner of a parked car :( so anyway there goes me no claims bonus insurance sorts my van an i assume the car then at the end of febuary i get a call saying the other person has tried to claim for front end damage to ??? i said i only hit the back they said oh ok then.
today i get a lettter from the county court saying the woman wants £2692.50 from me for damages an loss :O also saying i was going to fast not giveing way all aload of other crap even though no one saw me ! i could have driven off but im not like that .... so i got on to the insurance an it seams she decided to get a compleat new front bumper fitted and a load of other bits done so they are dealing with it now :) so if any one on here has a crash for gods sake get a picture !
then this afternoon i cut someones cable off with my hedge cutter and my girlfriend ended up in hospital with a chest infection allthough theyve just let her home :)

Was the original claim handled by your insurers?

If so, admit nothing and refer all correspondence to them and advise the other person to do the same and NOT via you.

well basically the other person is trying to scam my insurance they took it to another garage to be repaired and had a grands worth of work done to it ??? that was just the labour to this included a new front bumper but i didnt damage the front at all so my insurance hasnt paid a penny yet

ive sent the form to the insurance now there legal team will deal with it aparently its done like this alot because if i had just ignored it my insurance would have had to pay anyway ???

Sounds very odd - for them to have spent out such a lot of money on a repair on the whim that you'd pay out!

well i can only assume the person i hit lied to the body shop they went to so they repaired it in good faith but because i didnt do all the damage there not getting paid by my insurance ! it was a 2000 ford ka i hit so no one in there right mind would have spent a grand on it ??? also its £800 for the hire car :O

This is the reason insurance companies have damage assessors - no body repair shop would carry out any repairs without authorisation from the insurers, via the assessor's advice.

I smell a rat as LLL would say.

I had someone try and claim that I hit their car with our Tractor + Gritter in the snow last year.

Rear wing panel was creased, and had a light green paint. The tractor is New Holland Blue, and the gritter is bright Orange.

Best part of it was, the car was backed up against a 6ft retaining wall. Needless to say, the claim was withdrawn after an hour

fair play to you michael, indeed honesty is nearly always the best policy
apart from when the 6'5" skinhead asks "are you looking at my bird?"
then discretion is the better part of valour
LLL :)
