so started a driveway on monday, dug around 70 ton out and tipped two 20 ton loads of mot onto the excavated area, ready for the next day.

Anyway towards the end of the first day my customer came out and said, Dan ive got the council coming out tommorow to have a look and price up for the dropped kerb.

Then i thought oh dear, were doing a driveway with no planning, no suds completley non-complient with the new regs, (the customer knows this by the way)

Tuesday morning 10.00am the council highways engineering department rolled up, 1 important looking mush and two women.

I was quite nervous at this point as to what they were going to say about what we were doing but to my surprise they didnt say anything nor have i heard anything since.

surely the council officials cant be completley oblivious to the new regs?

yeah they are oblivious Dan as its a different department to planning, but never underestimate the watching eye of the driver in the bin wagon and his mates collecting the bins as these get paid for telling tales

Highways will have no interest in an driveway - only the crossover onto the Highway.

Many drives etc are done locally without any drainage and they get away with it.
