I upgraded my phone last week, some may say I down graded. I had some fancy Sony Ericson for the last 18 months that was always hard to use due to sand/dirt/ contamination. I asked the guy in Vodafone shop if there are any phones that are pacifically aimed at builders. He suggested a Samsung M110 Solid. So I went for that, its very basic tho, crap camera, no internet, but to be fair I never used the internet or camera on any phone I have ever owned. The paper work that comes with it claims its 100% water proof for up to 30mins fully submerged, so after a few beers at weekend I put it to the test, 30 mins in a full sink, and it still works fine.

We have a contract with Vodaphone for the most basic of basic phones that cost about £8, so when they break, its no big deal.

For our gritting contract though, we've had a couple of Samsung B2100 Solid - Bit like Ken mentioned above. Survived the last 6 months in pockets full of grit salt to no obvious detriment

I always knew it was time to upgrade my Nokia 3310. Though I feel it is in danger of going up in value as an antique!
