I am constructing a garden path and want to use gravel with a brick edging but this garden has free ranging chickens in it ! Chickens like scratching up loose surfaces but I am wondering if 20mm gravel will stay in place ! Does anybody have any experience on such matters !?

Encourage a fox to visit you perhaps.

IME chickens destroy gardens with haste,my old boss frenchy used to keep rare breeds and it never ceased to amaze me how quickly they annihilated a pen before we moved it
but to the original question 20mm should be to big for them to chuck around or swallow

A cell containment system might help minimise the destructive tendencies of the chickens.
