thats cheaper than cheap actually at £ 8.34 + vat

I've had 20 ton loads for £10 plus vat but it also depends where the job is located and the radius from the quarry, I had two jobs last year about a mile apart and was charged 2 different prices, one job was inside the radius and the other came under a different radius hence the price difference

so I can't see how they can have a fixed price for anywhere in the Manchester area, but hey come Monday morning I will be on the phone to the 2 managers I know at TP to see what this cheap and cheerful hardcore is all about

thanks for letting me know :)

get it through the depot at maccessfield direct order, we have a "special customer arrangement" with them on everything. every year we get a 5 page list of the discounts timber half price, underground drainage at 80% less than retail.

but we are south manchester near the peak district so all the big quarries within 10 miles hence cheaper price. plus we do 300k+ with travis a year with my dads company so i get it through his account.

ok i'll stick with that next best price from local independent aggregate dealer was 10.90 + vat. but he'll do me crusher run for sub layer at 4.50 + vat a ton

Travis Perkins bought out a couple of nearby independant builders Merchants.
Shame cos one was cheap and the other used to stock some hard to get stuff.
In my limited experience if you haven't got an account with TP don't bother as they are overpriced pisstakers.

under normal circumstances your right as they are not the cheapest merchants out there but it does depends on the amount of stuff your buying, all the branches are under immense pressure theses days to hit targets and when they do reach their monthly target the goal posts are moved so the branch managers do need the business

anyway what i am coming to is if you want a lot of a particular item they are allowed to give a larger discount and this additional discount is claimed back from the supplier who product your buying, its not official but the branch managers are allowed to do it

obviously if your just buying one item or a few then they will charge you the normal robin barsteward screen prices

Yes I can understand that and as I'm not trade I don't expect to get it as cheap as those that are.
All I ask is whatever I buy is fairly priced and not over twice as much as B&Q, and that's not an exageration in many cases!
What gets up my nose is when they buy out your friendly independant merchants and monopolise your area with a bunch of chavs.

Rant over. I'm going for a lie down
