Hiya lads, just writing this on my phone from the northwest burns unit. A can of spray line exploded in my face in a small fire and I have burned my arms, hands and face. Made a right mess of myself. But on the mend. Looking like i'm going to be off work for a few months which is a bumer. So I know i'm am idiot for throwing it on there in the first place but I thought a it was empty as nothing would come out and b the fire was out. So just to say from someone who has now been a human flame ball be careful lads amazing how quickly your life can change. Gi x

Well it happened on monday at 2pm. Put myself out, put all my tools away haha chainsaws and stihl saws. Then realised be good idea to ring am ambulance when I saw my forearm had no skin on it. They turned up quick rushed me to wythenshaw burns unit. Didn't get any pain relieve for about an hour but wow when that morphine kicked in bliss. Saying be a while as the new skin will be like baby skin and soft and not upto ground works. Lad in the bed next to me was fitting vinyl floor in a kitchen. Fitting the last bit where the washing machine was going. But he put oven on to cook sunday roast bent down to stick last bit and spray glue must have got all the way round the back of the units to the oven and just exploded in his face. He got it worst than me, another lad here stuck a screw driver in an arc welder transformer and melted his face off. Although cops turned up turns out he was trying to nick it. Karma haha.
Further chat with the guy reveals he was actually out robbing the copper out of a live sub station. Just had a 2 hour lesson in robbing copper and scrap. How to disable live stations etc haha. Obviously him being in burns unit maybe not the best lesson but interesting.

thats bad luck there. Accidents happen so quickly, and when they do, they are always painful!

Get well soon Giles. I have whiteness some thing similar happen. As a kid we were camping with the scouts and a lad from our troupe put an unopened can of baked beans on an open fire. The rest of us kept our distance, apart from the lad that put it on. Whilst he stood there prodding the can with a stick it exploded and went all over his face. His injuries were horrific, he was lucky that none of the metal of the can hit him the Dr.s said. I still see him from time to time and his burns/scolds don’t show.
